Swingkollektivet Cats and Dinosaurs

Cats and Dinosaurs – feel the sting of the left-wing swing! (ENG) The left-feminist swing collective Cats and Dinosaurs combines danceable swing with political sharpness, delivering a pure dance party. Rooted in the swing tradition and driven by a playful sense of groove, the band has shaped its sound through countless hours in sweaty dance halls — several members are lindy hop dancers themselves. Instead of classic swing standards, they perform their own boldly political songs such as “Jobba mindre!” (Work Less!), “I nättrollets sal” (In the Hall of the Internet Troll), and “Male Privilege.” With punk intensity and bluesy grit, they sing about everything from critiques of work and Marxism to anti-racism and feminist theory. Since the election year of 2014, they have toured extensively and built a growing audience. Their concerts are a surreal blend of jazz cabaret, punk basement, May Day march, and Allsång på Skansen — spiced with humorous and razor-sharp between-song banter that leaves few untouched.
